Committee aims to retain lace school Tuesday, 28th March 2006
Fis na Muingi-Iorras, based in Erris, has approached Údarás na Gaeltachta with a view to restoring the old Muings Lace School and adding an extension for the establishment of a small folk museum. The museum will celebrate the lives and times of the generations of women and girls who worked for the Erris lace schools. The Muings School, which was opened in 1914, will also serve as a centre for lectures, workshops and exhibitions, the latter displaying examples of the lacework created in the Muings School and in similar schools. http://www.laceschool.com/
